DESCRIPTION

Setting

Densely built lot and area on west side of street. House with rear additions takes up much of lot. House faces immediately onto street with just 2-3' of area between front porch and sidewalk, and with narrow passage between it and house to north and driveway on south side. Shade trees in areas between sidewalk and curb.

Description

Twin (#146 left/south, #148 right/north) house, two story, vinyl-sided, frame, narrow end-gable asphalt shingled roof split between units due to slope, banded brick chimney north end of #146, each 3-bay (total 6 bay) units with symmetrically space fenestration and separate front porches. Two story rear shed addition plus additional house facing south completes complex. Stone foundations.

Unit #146 has three windows across 2nd floor all with replacement 1x1 windows and faux shutters. Window near SE corner above door is small vertical unit. Newer door. Hipped roofed porch runs its length (rebuilt). It is supported by 4 square posts and simple flat balustrade atop masonry deck just a step above grade. Two windows located below those above. South end exhibits symmetrically spaced windows on addition, two at each level.

North section (#148, slightly lower grade than south section. It too has replacement sash windows with 1x1 divided lights. Full-length front porch supported by 4 square posts and flat balustrade (rebuilt). Grade reached vial two cement steps opposite door. Fenestration: 3 windows across 2nd floor all with replacement 1x1 windows and faux shutters. Window near SE corner above door is small vertical unit. Glazed door appears original.

Behind both units is a front end gabled, 2-story, vinyl clad building facing south.
