DESCRIPTION

Setting

West side of John Street, driveways on both sides.

Description

This multifamily dwelling has had numerous alterations, substantially affecting the front facade. The main block is a narrow two story rectangular gabled mass with the ridge parallel to the street. The north (right half) has a second floor balcony with two entries below that each have a box bay with a single street facing window to their rights. The second floor behind the balcony has two windows and a central door below a bracketed cornice. The other side has a cantilevered shed roof protrusion with two windows over an entrance door paired with a window near the south corner. There is also a double window to the right. Each half of the building has a very different treatment in the rear. the south half has a short extension of the rear slope of the main roof to make a deeper footprint. There is a one story shed roof extension behind that. On the north side, there is a long narrow gabled wing aligned with the north facade of the main block. This wing has irregular fenestration and looks like it was extended at least once.
