DESCRIPTION

Setting

This property is located on the south side of Birch Avenue just west of the intersection with Witherspoon Street. Birch Avenue is a residential street with a tree-lined sidewalk on each side. Parking is located on a drive running along the east side of the building.

Description

The property contains the eastern half of a 2-story, 4-bay vernacular twin. The two sections of the building have entirely different cladding. The front end gabled building has a small concrete chimney at the south end of the ridge and a block chimney along the east side of the building. In the peak of the front gable is a half-circular attic window shared by the two interior units. The second floor is clad with wood shingles, and the first floor is clad with wood siding. Windows are replacement double hung sash units with lip lintels. The front porch is a hipped roof element with unfluted Tuscan columns connected by a railing; the railing flows down the frame steps centered on the main elevation. On the porch, the replacement front door is located in the west bay. The east side of the house features three windows on the second floor and two on the first. The house has a concrete foundation.
